When a man who isn’t human is accidentally enslaved by a woman who has no idea what he is, the result is magical.
A Midsummer Night’s Steam story
Signing up for a one-week adventure vacation, Helena expects to be kayaking in the Pacific, not having every sexual fantasy fulfilled in her guide’s bed.
Ocean is more than he seems, his kayaking business a cover for his deepest secret.
When Helena accidentally enacts old magic, enslaving Ocean, he doesn’t know if she is the luckiest girl on earth, or an enemy of his kind, bent on imprisoning him forever. Ocean’s strange behavior worries Helena but she’s distracted by the mind-blowing sex.
After the truth is revealed, will their budding love be Sealed with a Kiss?

If you’re bored waiting for my Friday short story release (Sealed with a Kiss,) here are thirteen things for you to do and read. From random links to bad puns and pick-up lines, this week I’m all about the distraction.
- I went to the butchers the other day and I bet him $50 that he couldn’t reach the meat off the top shelf. He said, ‘no, the steaks are too high.’
- Pop virtual bubble wrap
- Are you an alien?, because you just abducted my heart.
- Get Virtually Married. I just married Harrison Ford.
- How to annoy someone on the elevator: Hum the theme from Mission Impossible with yours eyes darting around the elevator.
- My first job was working in an orange juice factory, but I got canned because I couldn’t concentrate.
- Song Tapper
- Hey, how’s it going? Do you see my friend over there? He wants to know if you think I’m cute.
- Click to make them divide, repeat until mesmerized and brain-dead.
- I used to be a tennis instructor, but it just wasn’t my racket.
- Tongue Twister: “Sheath thy sword,” the surly sheriff said, “or surely shall a churlish serf soon shatter thee.”
- Color
- LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Go read the Excerpt for Sealed with a Kiss

In honor of my upcoming Friday release Sealed with a Kiss, I did an Ocean themed poem. The hero’s name is Ocean and he’s the heroine’s kayaking instructor. And he has a seeeecret that relates to the ocean.
I tried to do a rhyming poem, but I think it came out very 5th grade class project. How do people do classy rhyming? I tried. Better next time.

Ocean
Upon the ocean
Salt and sun
Onward motion
Journey begun
One with the sea
Atop her waves
No guarantee
A watery grave
Slaves to the quest
For watery grace
We nurse at her breast
Craving and fearing her embrace
Longing for knowledge
About that which we cannot see
Willing to pledge
Our lives to her security

Today is Flash Fiction Day over at the Sex Blog, hosted by moi.
It’s simple, write 100 word, and exactly 100 words, on whatever you want. Even if you’ve never written a day before in your life, you should come try this. I just come read all the crazy comments.

Here are things that have made me happy this week.
EVENTS FOR MY MASTERS PROGRAM COME WITH FREE BOOZE!! Why didn’t anyone explain that Grad School = drinking. I would have done this years ago.
One of the Professor’s introductions was: “Non-fiction is opinion. Fiction is truth.” YEA! ROCK ON! I’m taking his class next semester.
They announced that the program is now nationally ranked in the Top 5.

Here are some images that inspired me while writing, and remind me of the second book in the Zinah series: Savage.

Weapons

Except they wouldn’t be all shiny and clean. They’d be bloody and battle worn.

Quiz-y Deliciousness.
Hmm. This is fairly apropos for me. I just think it’s funny that Rhi got Lolita. Hehehe.
Come on… you know you want to try it. Who/what are you?

You’re The Poisonwood Bible!
by Barbara Kingsolver
Deeply rooted in a religious background, you have since become both
isolated and schizophrenic. You were naively sure that your actions would help people,
but of course they were resistant to your message and ultimately disaster ensued. Since
you can see so many sides of the same issue, you are both wise beyond your years and
tied to worthless perspectives. If you were a type of waffle, it would be
Belgian.

I just bought a $50 course reader that is 34 pages long. Now I’m a jadded and world-weary grad student instead of an inspired one.

I’m inspired.
Yesterday I went to orientation for my Masters program. It will be the first time I’m studying something I am soul deep passionate about, instead of merely interested in.
The instructors spoke in a language I understood; they promised to feed me ideas and theories and practical knowledge I need. I’m not only going to learn to write, but to make words my medium. My program is one of the only interdisciplinary ones in the country. To graduate I will have to take classes in playwriting, poetry, non-fiction, screenplay, short story, essay, and novel writing. I’m not going to asked to be one thing, but to be a writer who works in all formats. I have classmates who will become my support system. For so long I’ve functioned with just on-line people the idea of being able to sit knee to knee with someone while you talk out plot points is mind-boggling.
Could I BE more inspired? I think not.
